Picture this, you may have spent most of the day preparing a report for work, running errands, or getting the kids to and from school, sorting out their dinners, perhaps you’ve been cleaning all day as you’ve been too busy to do any housework all week due to work, study or other commitments. It’s now 10 o’clock at night, your day has whizzed past and you’re exhausted.
Stress levels are high and you feel as if you’re at breaking point! Days like this are becoming a regular occurrence and all you need is to get away from it all, right? You daydream about jetting off to some Caribbean paradise…
…Sounds so good! But, this daydream is cut short, as you think about everything that you have got to do tomorrow. Ugh! I know what this feels like, been there too many times. But actually, I soon began to realise that your stress levels and overwhelming feelings can be reduced by adopting simple techniques into your week.
* Have a look at some of my favourite relaxation techniques*
Meet up with old friends, catch up and have fun
Breathe Deeply… Breathe in as far as you can, and count down from 10 with every exhale, if you still feel tense, repeat
Go for a stroll in your local park- not only is this good for helping your mind to relax, but also this has a positive impact on your physical health if done regularly
Indulge in a cup of herbal tea- Camomile tea is my favourite, and is known for its relaxing agents
There really is nothing more relaxing than immersing yourself in a hot bubble bath infused with lavenders oils . You can literally feel your tense muscles relax as you allow yourself to soak. Perhaps the sauna is more your thing, in which case try it, do what works for you
Believe me guys there are so many relaxation techniques that you can try and once you find what works for you, you will notice that you are better equipped to cope with the stresses of daily living as you have adopted techniques that release your stress and tensions overall improving your health and wellbeing.
